Jordan Garbis is an entrepreneur and seeker of technologies that solve real human problems. He currently works with Kaplan Ventures to find new ways of delivering context to education.
Jordan is an entrepreneur, general manager and strategist with a 9 year history working with disruptive innovation through technology enabled services. In his current role as a Senior Product Manager, Jordan is responsible for the conception and launch of data-driven services to drive targeted sales at online and offline retail endpoints on behalf of American Express and its retail partners.
Jordan is the founder of Haystack Media, a venture funded music social network and digital music distribution and licensing company and has served as Entrepreneur-In-Residence advising media investments at Tipping Point Partners, a New York City technology incubator. Prior to American Express, Jordan was responsible for sourcing and executing strategic growth opportunities in education software and services at Kaplan Ventures.
In recognition of his achievements, Jordan has won numerous accolades for his contribution to technology in the media/entertainment industry including speaking engagements with Wharton Business School, Syracuse University and Digital Hollywood. Additionally, Jordan was honored in 2008 with the Young Gun award, presented to the most promising young person in the media and technology strategy field in New York City.
Jordan holds an MBA and was a James Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Culture and Society from Emory University.
